Its navigation abilities are impressive and it was able to navigate easily around the furniture in my apartment. It removed a great deal of dirt from my floors, and left them sparkling clean. The mopping feature was, however, less effective - it failed to take away all the marks from my kitchen and failed clean up spilled coffee. It is still very good for scrubbing up dust, though, and can be used to quickly pick up spilled food or drinks.
The base of the robot can be connected to a faucet so that it can automatically fill and drain its tanks. This feature is particularly beneficial for those who share a house and helps reduce the frequency of maintenance. The mops are cleaned and rinsed in the docking station after each use, and can be washed up to 75 times before requiring replacement. The app provides plenty of flexibility, so you can choose your settings depending on the space. This includes setting a carpeted space, choosing the order of cleaning and deciding how often the cleaner will visit the docking station to clean its mop pad.
It is quiet enough to be used when watching TV. It can get quite loud on max suction mode, however it could have to be turned down if you want to continue listening to the programme.
Easy to operate
The Dreame L30 Ultra is a hands-free robot with a nice variety of features. It can both vacuum and mop floors automatically and its advanced navigation ensures it's extremely efficient at doing this. Its sophisticated navigation system helps to avoid obstacles and to move forward without getting stuck or getting confused. It can even detect carpeting and return to its base station to untie its mops, which helps keep your carpets looking great.
Alexa, Siri, and Google Assistant can all be used to start, stop, and suspend the device. While this is a helpful feature, the app provides many more functions and is the best method to control it. It also has an inbuilt camera, which is a bonus feature, allowing you to see what the robot is doing as it trawls your home.
Like many of the top robot vacuums, this one is quite noisy during cleaning and therefore not suitable for families with children or pets. It can be used in a quiet mode, but it creates a lot of sound. It can also be slow to move around, taking up to 45 minutes to complete a lap of my 20m2 home that isn't surrounded by furniture or the massive box it came in.
In addition to its problems with noise and speed It is an impressive machine that does a fantastic job of picking up dirt and debris. It was great in removing pet hair and fine dust but had trouble getting rid of stains that were hard to remove older than a week. It can be confusing to set up and use especially for those who aren't tech-savvy.
It's also costly to run, with the annual running costs expected to be in excess of $100 or more. However, it is a very effective cleaner and, with its powerful motors and modern technology, is the best robotic vacuum currently available on the market. It's certainly worth the up-front price for those who have large homes or who want to keep their carpets in top condition.
